Monaco: How it happened

After a break from the blog website, we are back in business, and this time the Formula D Championship visited the famous Cote De Azur. The circuit is known for its tight street corners and the celebrities. Today was no exception and famous people like Tom Hanks and Paris Hilton were among the crowds. The only downside this year was the bad weather. With rain pouring down the whole weekend the racing would be extremely tight. The qualification was exiting to the last bitter end in these dangerous conditions. The line-up was as following:

1.      Megan Fox (BMW)

2.       McKidd (Emirates)

3.       Ken Burton (Sony)

4.       Mr. Awesome (Red Bull)

5.       Kun Rå (BMW)

6.       House (Sony)

7.       Snusmumrikken (Emirates)

8.      Victoria (Red Bull)

At the start of the race the Sony car to Ken Burton stalled, and the former champion is still struggling to find pace and consistency in the new Sony car. I think we all are asking the question, how a world winning car can go from bad to worse in just a year. Then as the rain continued to pour down BMW showed us why they were at the top of the table this year and started to make a little gap down to the rest. The only challenges came from Mr. Awesome and McKidd in the Red Bull and the Emirates car respectively. McKidd had been pushing hard to get up to challenge the BMW?s and had already been involved in two crashes in the first 4 corners. As McKidd pushed, we also saw that Snusmumrikken tried too hard to catch up to the leaders, and made a small error that saw him into the wall at the hairpin in the Lowe corner. Then it was the next Emirates car to hit the wall. McKidd after trying to catch up with the front runners made an error just before the tunnel and was out as well. This was turning out to be one of these days for the Emirate Team. Kun Rå, which was in the lead, was able to create a gap down to the three car battle between the two Red Bulls, and Megan Fox in the other BMW. The two Sony cars were trailing them all, and it looked like Sony still was struggling to get to grip with their new car. The team radio to Kun Rå was telling him to box this lap. His answer to this was: Shit pit motherfu**** thing. Then we heard Ken Burton?s radio, he was saying: What are the others doing, are they pitting. He got the answer: Kun Rå, Megan Fox, and Victoria were going to pit, stay out Ken. Please conserve your tires. We are looking at a full race distance on these tires.

The standings after lap 1:

1.      Mr. Awesome (Red Bull)

2.       Ken Burton (Sony)

3.       Megan Fox (BMW)

4.       Kun Rå (BMW)

5.       Victoria (Red Bull)

6.       House (Sony)

7.       McKidd (Emirates) Crashed

8.      Snusmumrikken (Emirates) Crashed

After Megan Fox, Kun Rå, Victoria, and House had pitted Mr. Awesome was in a big lead with around 15-20 seconds in front of the Sony car to Ken Burton. With the two BMW?s and Victoria in the Red Bull pitting they were know trying to catch up to Ken Burton. Ken fought with the car, but was not able to keep it all together to prevent the BMW of Kun Rå to catch up with him. As the race progressed the distance between each cars stared to get larger and larger. The only real battle was between the Sony and the BMW for second place. At the end of lap two the skies had started to clear and the sun was shining down on Monte Carlo. As a result of this the track soon dried up. This happened as most of the cars had past the finish line. The only car to manage to get to the pits was Victoria in the Red Bull. She decided gamble to go with the soft and hope that this would help her catch up with the guys in front of her.

Standing after lap 2:

1.      Mr. Awesome (Red Bull)

2.       Ken Burton (Sony)

3.       Kun Rå (BMW)

4.       Megan Fox (BMW)

5.       House (Sony)

6.       Victoria (Red Bull)

7.       McKidd (Emirates) Crashed

8.      Snusmumrikken (Emirates) Crashed

As the race had been declared as a rain race the cars did not need to pit to change tires. This meant that the Red Bull car of Mr. Awesome was able to race without a pit stop in the whole race. This was quite an impressive performance by Mr. Awesome who took the chequered flag with a big lead down to the two battling cars of Ken Burton and Kun Rå. This battle was decided in the last two corners were Ken Burton had more grip and was able to edge his car in front of the BMW. This saw the Sony car take it highest finish in this year?s championship. The rest of the cars had quite a calm race beyond the first lap, this saw them finish in much the same order as they passed the first lap.
